YESTERDAZE - ACT U ALL
RELEASE: NOV. 25 – 2022
Rock, Indie-rock or alt-rock? Should we care? Yesterdaze are giving us top tier high-energy music with ACT U ALL.
A beautiful chaos to make you feel alive.
The four-piece from Norway, with an Icelandic lead-singer seeks to captivate us with aggressively addictive songs. Their incredible live energy and the bands technical capability, paired with Armann’s unique and raw vocals, makes their live performances unforgettable, and their songs exceptionally catchy.
November 25th 2022 the band is set to release their first EP – Act U All.
Act U All is a monster of an EP from an innovative and daring young rock band that both challenges and compels their listeners while listening.
The result is an impressive 5 track debut EP that manages to both show off the wide musical range Yesterdaze inhibits, and gives you a clear image of what the band is and where they want to go.
This is new, but also familiar rock that plays with inspirations from bands like Arctic Monkeys, Biffy Clyro, QOTSA, and The Hives.
Yesterdaze, like said bands, also have heavy emphasis on their live performances. They are one of the few new band’s that foremost think of how their music will be received live while writing new music.
Yesterdaze comment:
“Our main purpose with Act U All and the songs we chose for this EP was to tell our future audience what to expect when they catch us live, and to really want to see us live. We wanted this to be the very first thoughts of anyone who hears the songs for the first time. At the same time we also sought to create music that grows on you and that can reveal new meanings, or inspire new lines of thought, the more you listen to them.“
But live rock music seldom engages unless it is paired with lyrics as powerful as the performance, a fact Yesterdaze is thoroughly aware of.
Values such as justice and tolerance, are extremely important concepts for the band, as one of their goals are to create music that engages and inspires a new generation of music fans to make active choices in the lives they live.
They seek to create meaningful and deep music for the greater audience and have the listeners both experience euphoria and to be deeply moved while listening to their songs.
Or as Yesterdaze states:
“Ultimately, we want people to connect to their own being . We want the audience to access a full scale of emotions at our shows, and that's what we strive for.”
On how they landed on Act U All, vocalist Armann:
The name of the EP came to me when I read the definition of Actual - existing in fact or reality.
It had me thinking about how we so rarely are true to ourselves; 90 % of the time we are putting on an “act”. A kind of facade put up to shield people from the world or themselves. That we are all operating behind an act. As such, while writing the lyrics for Act U All I wanted to take a look within myself, at my own actions and my own behavior.”
This kind of introspection can be both exhausting and intense. This intensity is evident on Act U All. By all means, this is a high tempo EP, where vocalist Armann at times seems to be gasping for air.
When this massive energy is paired with the absolute interactions between guitarist Martin and bassist Lars, and Torje’s tight and unstoppable drums, you are left with high altitude songs that immediately catch your attention and will have you hooked.
The riffs and interaction of Lars and Martin on guitar and bass are many of the melodies that stick to me time and time again on these songs, and Torje's drumming on the EP is indisputable and unstoppable!
What more is there to be said?
Yesterdaze has arrived to bring rock back in focus and pave the way for a new generation of conscious rock lovers.
